Rooted in the Rhode Island Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, this training is designed to empower educator teams with the tools and knowledge to evaluate intervention programs using the six dimensions of the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity: Strength, Dosage, Alignment, Attention to Transfer, Comprehensiveness, and Merged Academic and Behavior. Evaluating intervention programs is a prerequisite for creating the map, a system for matching intervention with need, and supporting the adults in implementing.
By mastering these dimensions, you’ll enhance your system’s ability to deliver targeted, standard protocol interventions with the appropriate intensity for student need. This training is intended to be followed by Tier 3 Practices: The Map, which focuses on integrating interventions into a broader framework that matches to need.
Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the importance of using the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity to evaluate intervention programs.
- Explain each dimension of the Taxonomy (i.e., strength, dosage, alignment, comprehensiveness, attention to transfer, and integration of academic and behavioral supports).
- Collaboratively evaluate an existing intervention for a target grade level using the Taxonomy of Intervention Intensity in preparation for developing an intervention map.
