Data use is central to everything we do in Tier 2! This course builds off of the lessons learned in the Tier 2 Overview and Practices courses. Here, we explore the key ways data are used to identify students in need of support, match that support to need, monitor progress, and make both individual and group intervention decisions. Emphasis is placed on understanding data characteristics and effective data use. Participants completing this course will be well-positioned to refine data routines that support effective Tier 2 implementation.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the features of data used at Tier 2
  • Identify the different ways that data is used to guide decisions at Tier 2
  • Develop guidance of the use of data to support Tier 2
  • Begin a process to action plan improvements to existing data use routines

Emphasis is placed on understanding the characteristics of Tier 2 support with a specific focus on how to find and select the right evidence-based interventions for successful Tier 2 practices. Participants completing this course will be well poised to move on to the next two courses in the Tier 2 strand, Data Use and Systems.
