This course provides an overview of Tier 2 systems, focusing on the supports essential to ensuring that all members of the school community can effectively contribute to successful Tier 2 implementation. Participants will explore strategies to provide necessary supports and begin planning next steps to strengthen Tier 2 in their schools.

This training is Part 1 of the Facing Your Fears in Schools (FYF-S) training series—an evidence-based intervention designed to help school-based providers and educators identify, understand, and support students with anxiety. In Part 1, you’ll learn how to recognize the signs of anxiety (even in students who struggle to communicate it) and explore the fundamentals of evidence-based treatment.
By the end of this course, participants will have a clearer lens for identifying anxiety and a strong foundation to build on in Part 2, where we’ll dive deeper into implementing the intervention in schools.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify anxiety in students.
- Compare general anxiety symptoms in students to those that may present in neurodiverse students.
- Consider what students might be a fit for FYF-S.
- Describe the core components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety.

This is Part 2 of the Facing Your Fears in Schools (FYF-S) training series—an evidence-based program designed to help school-based providers and educators support students in managing anxiety. In Part 1, you learned how to identify anxiety and explored the fundamentals of evidence-based treatment.
In Part 2, participants will focus on putting that knowledge into action. You’ll learn how to implement FYF-S in school settings, including delivering the program in dyads or small groups, using cognitive-behavioral strategies, and guiding students through facing their fears in practical, structured ways.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify which students are most likely to benefit from FYF-S.
- Use the FYF-S manual for psychoeducation and guidance.
- Build fear hierarchies to help students gradually confront anxieties.
- Apply exposure practices effectively within a school environment.
