This course will equip educators with strategies to combat chronic absenteeism by leveraging team collaboration and data tools. Participants will gain an understanding of chronic absenteeism, its root causes, and its connection to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). The course emphasizes using school teams to develop and implement effective attendance success plans, focusing on multi-year, chronically absent students and addressing root causes such as barriers, disengagement, and misconceptions. Throughout the course, participants will explore the use of attendance data, learn how to prioritize interventions, and align attendance improvement strategies with broader school improvement goals.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define chronic absenteeism.
  • Understand the root causes of chronic absenteeism.
