This course explores best practices in preventing and managing behavior escalations. Specific attention is paid to the role of self-regulation in preventing and managing escalations. Participants will learn to recognize where a student is on the dysregulation continuum, strategies to promote a successful return to a calm, engaged state, and how to develop a plan to support dysregulated students.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the stages of escalation and effective strategies to support students at each stage
- Identify your own personal triggers and strategies to promote wellness
- Develop a plan for supporting your students' emotional self-regulation
