Classroom Behavior and Performance
1. Difference v. Disorder
Differences in cultural and linguistic experiences not only affect what we learn, they also greatly influence how we learn them. When we are exposed to things in a language we comprehend, then we can use behaviors that assist in learning, such as focus and attention. We don't often realize that simply being unable to comprehend what is being said to us is enough to cause us to display behaviors that are not conducive to learning and which may be mistaken as disorder instead of difference.
